Incorporated on March 1, 1983 by Bud McKinsey, David Knoebel and Jesse Cram, MKC, Inc. dba Precision Metal Works began building automotive lifts. Also in 1983 we built our first parts washers for the automotive rebuilding market for Kwik Way Mfg. As the auto lift market decreased during the 90s, the washer market grew to include the industrial parts washers. Since 1983, our PMW equipment has been doing the washing for some the worlds most demanding customers, like John Deere, Mercury Marine, Mead Paper, CAT, and many others. Automotive lifts were phased out in 2007. Business was also supplemented by other contract manufacturing such as vacuum canisters and related parts for the car wash industry and component parts for high pressure washers for Mi-T-M Corp. A fire completely destroyed PMWs main offices and fabrication facility in October, 1989. We rebuilt our main office on the back portion of our original location, and enlarged and relocated our fabrication facility to the east of the surviving finishing building. In 1991, Jesse and Dave purchased Bud McKinseys portion of PMW. During that decade, PMWs growth was primarily in commercial and industrial parts washing equipment. Our expertise and reputation in this area grew. Demand for this equipment increased to levels that began to tax our capacity, requiring further expansion. In 1999, Generac opened a plant in Maquoketa and contracted with PMW to make large fuel tanks (2000 to 3000 gallons). PMW made capital improvements, equipment and building additions. In January, 2008, PMW was presented the Iowa Farm Bureau Entrepreneur of the Month award. At that time, Dave announced his imminent retirement. PMW was then reorganized with primary ownership by Jesse Cram and the Rural Vitality Fund. PMW continues to design and build industrial parts washers, and is expanding their market globally. Contract manufacturing, including component parts, meat smokers, is continuing as well. Currently, PMW employs 36 employees, 34 of those are full-time. PMW operates in 52,000 square feet of space, which includes offices as well as production facilities.
