A premier attraction in the area is scenic Maquoketa Caves State Park, featuring a natural bridge, a balancing rock and thirteen caves (more than any other park in Iowa).

Maquoketa is the hub of a surprising array of recreational opportunities: caves, rivers, and parks, canoeing, camping and hunting, biking, fishing and golfing.

Surrounding Maquoketa is "simply beautiful" Jackson County. Our guests use the city as a base to explore over 30 county parks, preserves, and canoe accesses; four major campgrounds; the Mississippi and Maquoketa Rivers; over sixty National Register sites; the ethnic Luxembourg village of St. Donatus; and many historic and scenic sites of Bellevue.

Maquoketa has a beautiful nine hole golf course that is in the process of expanding. Even if your not an accomplished golfer the picturesque landscape makes even a tough round easier to bear.

Step back into another era as you go to the Drive-In. Maquoketa boast one of the few remaining Drive-In Theaters. What a way to spend a summer evening.
