AQUILA EMPLOYEES PARTNER WITH PUBLIC WORKS TO CLEAN MAQUOKETA PARK

MAQUOKETA, IA June 19, 2007 -Aquila employees partnered with members of the Maquoketa Public Works department for a park clean-up event at Fifth Ward Park on June 13. Aric Olson, Aquila service technician, led the Aquila team and worked with Stacy Driscoll, executive director of the Maquoketa Area Chamber to coordinate the project.

The group spent the day trimming trees and shrubs, weeding and loading debris into city vehicles. They also repaired damaged fencing along the edge of the park. A representative from the Maquoketa tree board was on hand to give guidance on the tree trimming. "The park looked great when we were finished," said Olson. "It is amazing what you can accomplish when you work together."

Aquila employees have completed similar service projects in Fredericksburg, Webster City, Denison and Carter Lake. These projects are part of the company's community outreach programs called AquilaCares. "Aquila encourages employees to get involved in their communities. This program is a way to give back to the communities we serve," said Laura Roussell, Aquila eternal affairs manager.

Aquila serves more than 2,712 natural gas customers in Maquoketa and has served the community since 1960. Aquila's state headquarters is in West Des Moines. The company serves approximately 147,700 gas customers throughout Iowa. More information is available at www.aquila.com.
